Oil Water Separators (OWS) - Operations, Maintenance, and Management Best Practices
Duration- 1 hour
Presenter Bio
Ashley Weese is a a water and wastewater consultant at Aureus Solutions Inc for seven years. She has inspected and developed O&M procedures for over 100 OWSs in both Canada and the US.
Webinar Overview
OWS units are “in-line” devices used to separate residual oils, greases, light fuels and sediment from industrial wastewater and storm water discharges. They are used as either pre-treatment devices or final treatment prior to discharge (sanitary, storm, environment, other) and as a result, they require proper design, operation, maintenance and management. However, these systems are often poorly understood, and as a result, present a compliance risk. This webinar will provide attendees with an overview of the different types of OWSs and their specific applications, inspection and maintenance steps, application under the Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products Regulations, and lessons learned in the field.
Webinar Outline
How an OWS works
Types of OWSs, appurtenances and their specific applications
How to perform an inspection
Recommended preventative maintenance
Lessons learned and troubleshooting tips
Duration- 1 hour
